What is the 'Put-Call Ratio'

Options involve risk and are not suitable for all investors. However, traders may also view this ratio as a contrarian indicator. Traders know that derivatives are used to do more than place bets; they are used as hedges and insurance.

If there's a lot of insurance being placed to the sell side , it means traders are worried about prices falling. Some traders will buy when the put-call ratio is above 1, meaning the market is out of balance to the sell side, and sell when the put-call ratio is below 1, meaning the market is out of balance to the buy side. These traders are looking to make money on the correction. The interpretation of the ratio is left to the analyst's or trader's investment philosophy.

What is the 'Put-Call Ratio' The put-call ratio is an indicator ratio that provides information about the relative trading volumes of an underlying security's put options to its call options.

For example, using the free stock photos site here , I pulled up the following options:. Meaning, you have to do it all over again. The solution is fairly simple. I did use a number of tools to help in my learning and to speed up the process for this case study.

I had planned on using this tool for one month only, but I ended up using it for about a minute. The reason I paid for it in the first place was to get more insights into the data that Alexa currently has. By default, Alexa shows you 5 words or phrases that are likely driving traffic to any website. You can see this for free without needing an account.

However, with a pro membership, they say you can see a lot more of this information. I wanted to use it on sites in my industry and for ViperChill while I had access to find good keyphrases to target for things like my Adwords campaign and possibly for content ideas as well. No, it gives you Barely more useful than the free service itself, and I can only praise the fact that they gave me a quick refund. This is a great tool which is specifically great for those of us who advertise on Facebook.

The main features include:. Using this tool I found a title from the same industry — which I adapted to mine — which was by far the title which got me the best CTR. Ad Beat is very similar to Social Ad Ninja but instead of being focused on Facebook, it gives you insights into people using Google Adwords. My market is bigger than that, but seemingly not from Facebook as my ad frequency just becomes too high, too quickly.

This leaves the potential for consistent, 4 figure days in profit. I bought myself a notebook and a fancy pen really just to take notes from Stack That Money non -aff for the next few months. There are a lot of case studies from people banking really hard with Facebook dating. This is brilliant case study and has proved that, despite your original impression, things can turn in your favour.

I believe that a big part of this is down to planning your campaign properly, and it looks like you carried everything out in a way that encouraged success. If we have big expectations we can be sorely disappointed. In all seriousness, this post is awesome. It was soooo nice to see instant stats though. I can only imagine!

Instant stats would be nice for a change. I too have my plate full with projects at the moment but I will have to find the right time to jump into this and start learning. Really great study, I think I might have an idea what niche you are in. I work in the SaaS industry and we have a very similar model. Also can definitely relate to your point about SEO vs. PPC I have just started to get into in the last year or so. Now on to the real gold in this article…Facebook.

Almost like Google all over again…. Have you tried direct linking to CPA offers? I remember him from the days when John Chow was popular. I see he was making big bank though! Semi-addicted to paid traffic already. That post that John wrote was mostly for link-bait and self-promotion as you can see from the last section of it — July was certainly a massive drop for me, but I still pulled in a good 5 figures profit from my campaigns. Thanks for commenting here. Might want to email Akismet about that?

Ah, I had honestly thought you collaborated with John on that post for some reason. Must have just been how he wrote it…sneaky. Do you have an upper limit you like, of which you will start a second campaign if it gets too high? I never did it to an affiliate offer or sales page though. It worked better when they were around , — , for testing purposes. Then you can really nail in the demographic once you have a high-ctr.

So testing much smaller age groups 5 year chunks and then even target by cities in that particular country as well. You can see in one of my screenshots the reach was only 5,, but I had a ton of these. Thanks for the idea! I have some tips coming in an upcoming blog post you might want to wait for, but I noticed some big differences. Great post, Glen — I love nothing more than reading through a small case study like this, it just goes to show the massive potential the web provides us!

Appreciate the comment, Chris. Still need to get back to you and dozens of people on that other post. This is awesome man! Are you eligeble to direct traffic through an affiliate link worked for me in norway a few years back or do you have to promote your affiliate offer on a landing page?? For my dating offer I went direct through an affiliate link. What a great insight in the possibilities of FB Ads.

I sell a product on JVZoo, but the buyer is not redirected to a hosted page of myself and I cannot specify it. You would just put your tracking cookie there. Are you absolutely sure? In JVZoo there is an option to specify a Download Page as Delivery Method which I have not set initially , so you are right that you can redirect a buyer to your own page…. I wondering what you were talking about above, because you can use your own download page.

You can go in and edit the setup if you want to add your own sales confirmation page. It is a good idea to make it a registration page for customers to make a list of your customers, and you can put the Fb conversion pixel on that page.

I like controlling the process myself instead and I think customers can get the product much faster that way. In regards to JVZoo, I found the setup very easy and they continue to improve the system and you get all the control you want to how and where the product is delivered. I love the bit about the Place Order not working! I told my wife the exact same thing.

How can FB allow this to happen with their number 1 revenue stream!!? The hardest thing to track is which clicks are actually converting to sales though. There are a lot of steps in there to get setup from scratch. If someone decided to get started or restarted which path would you recommend for getting profitable quickly? PPC has the potential to get you money the quickest, probably, but it also has the potential to drain you of your money the quickest.

Maybe do them both in a sideline? Set up your SEO site. Great post, thank you. Once you are receiving more facebook likes from the facebook ad on your fan page how do you then convert these to product sales? That was just for cheap testing. Just start a new ad campaign promoting something else and pause the test ones…. Okay, so basically, using your internal an page is just to gauge the clickthrough potential of the ad? You get to see if it works with the added bonus that you might receive some likes in said page.

Is this correct Glen? Awesome case study Glen. Tried finance, insurance, claims on fb… but games, dating, casino games etc. Awesome post as always, I will definitely be looking into paid traffic in the future thanks to this. Google Adwords can be quite profitable if managed correctly.

And since the intent is more specific and direct when a person is on search, your conversions and profit can also be higher than Facebook. But for the purposes of my one week of spending, FB made the most sense. Completely ignore and turn off Google Display until you have a handle on just Search. In fact, also turn off the Search partners, just focus on pure Google search. Add exact, phrase, or modified broad match keywords. Keep it uber tight.

And focus on clear intent. Thanks for delivering the goods and the words of caution too. Anyone can set it up, but it takes some careful deliberation and testing to be successful. But I think the much smarter path for long term success is in seeing the potential of creating and marketing your own products via this method.

No, seriously, your case studies are consistently eye opening. No one even begins to compete with Viperchill on that front. I tried Adwords for a bit but their rules changed and my landing pages got rejected. I seems like FB give you much more freedom on what you can do. Fantastic case study, Glen! I had a question for you — what type s of Facebook ads were you buying? Did you stick only with the small sidebar ads or have you tried newsfeed ads?

It seems like the newsfeed ads would be more prominent and they also show up for mobile users. Yep, purely the sidebar. Thought it might mess with my results. Are you still in Thailand? I very enjoy reading your articles and trying some of the methods. Google lets you hide behind the veil. It says do not honor? Awesome post as always Glen, thanks! Might be time to sign up to Stack That Money as well. I stumbled across it a while back, but wrote it off as a fake site….

These posts are wornderfulL. This has just given me the motivation to go ahead and just try out PPc for a few of my campaigns. As soon as I spoke to a few guys on the forum who knew I was a member, they helped fast track the process. Would love to have some nice cash flowing in like that, seemed like a dream trying to do it consistently. Looking forward to checking out more of your advice, enjoying the posts!

I like your reference to providing quality content to your audience consistently and not rehashed information. So forgive me if I missed it, but did you talk about whether you can direct link to any CPA or affiliate offer from FB ads? I know Google and other platforms have restrictions. It reads that way. Can you let us know what cut you are getting for the number of sign ups this generates for them?

I understand that you said non aff link, but there are other ways to track it. I think it would be good on your part to be transparent here. I started planning the case study before I had even even heard of Stack That Money. I have been dabbling in this myself over the last month through Peerfly. I tried some cheaper traffic sources such as 7Search but the traffic from Facebook is much better.

I think the industry is very competitive but if you can find a good campaign, you can scale it up. Hope you keep seeing good results like this.

I have pushed traffic to FB pages in the past as I felt I would get a better return long term, however I like the quick results you can get from a direct campaign. Thanks Viperchill for this complete course! I love to learn from a real pro showing how to do all the things and not buying these reharshed tutorials from supposed gurus.

There is a ton of cash to be made from PPC when you know what your doing. It all boils down to testing, testing, testing.

If you continue with FB ads you gotta try the power editor out. There is an option to target ads in the newsfeed instead of the sidebar which is amazing.

Fantastic post my friend! So inspiring and motivational! Just to re-cap and to make sure I have a decent understanding, I just want to double check with you. So you tested a few different things.. You setup an AD to send someone directly to your e-mail opt in list where you would work up to the product offer. You also tested sending people to a Faceboook page to get likes.. Someone below you commented that Clickbank links are banned, but I have no idea how true that is.

The answer is yes to all of your questions. By far the most useful post for me so far on Viperchill! Google and Facebook both promoted my ads direct to a sales page. More on this in the next post. If you think like that, then yes. I remember people saying it 3 years ago. In theory, you can promote the same url with a different adwords account, but its against adwords policies. I have 2 questions regarding two your article. For the campaign to the persons who like Apple in Spain, your campaign was in Spanish or English?

Amazing post as usual. Its always amazing reading your stuff. I need your co-operation and help for my blog. Please check it out and kindly mail me. I have build content and now in the mid of river: I believe you can help me getting out of this mess…. Define your ideal target visitor. I am just trying to get more maturity: I feel pretty good about PPC, but got nowhere on Facebook. Need to take another look — thanks Glen. Can hardly wait for the next post; cheers!

Also, once you get the likes is that when you start promoting your squeeze pages as posts on the page correct? Just replied on Twitter. Pause the squeeze page and then start the new campaign.

It is rare that I am up at 2: You need to be prepared to see little or no immediate financial gain for your efforts unless you have the letters V and C in your handle and that any money you are spending is:.

This certainly helps me not to become frustrated when my initial tests into different markets and PPC channels do not yield an immediate profit. Also I need to consider using Facebook ads even though I detest FB for some reason — I need to get past my personal opinion.

We do run a business that lends itself well to FB so worth a punt. Hi Glen, nice case study. Important question though, did you send that Facebook ad traffic when you got 73 subscribers to a out and out squeeze page?

Or was it to a page with a bit more on it to get your ad approved? Thanks in advance for your answer. The education niche was job listings so it was quite easy to get people lured in due to this evergreen niche. When I started using FB for email lead generation, I switched to news feed ads, mainly because my first couple of sidebar ads promoting an optin page tanked and I accidentally got some good results by forgetting to un-tick the news feed ad option….

Thanks for sharing Glen, you are internet expert!!! I started to use more Facebook last month, and had the same insight, how Facebook is becoming more and more easy to operate campaigns and with a better control and minor costs than Google.

All we know is he shares some really cool info with his subscribers. I suspect a reason for your success is partly due to the niche you target, but also the way you try to convert people on the landing page. Glen I love ALL your posts, but this one in particular seems special.

This feels like a stupid question but I need to ask: If only because I love watching stats tick over! So have been looking for quality info ever since, and voila your article pops up in the email.

Great post and thanks for the link to STM, have just joined and it will hopefully take marketing on FB to another level. All I can say is sik post Glen. Some good gold nuggets in there. Incidentally, I thought I would mention before I forget. Facebook does re-targeting from your website, therefore visitors to your site can be followed over to facebook displaying your ads as they move around. A big player in the UK banking sector has seen some exceptionally CTR and conversion for revenue with this method.

I guess if you are sending them to Facebook page from Ads, then to your website, it maybe worth capturing those that drop from your site and re-target them with a more specific ad.
